This Weekendís Volunteer Projects: The Princess Project was founded in April 2002 by Marian and Elizabeth Weyer in honor of Elizabeth's title of Miss American Rose National Supreme Queen 2002. Since then, there have been Princess Parties-- or Parties-in-a-box--in seven states. Hostesses have honored girls and women with cancer, heart defects, cerebral palsy, severe injuries due to a car accident, parental drug abuse, and parental suicide. You don't have to be a title holder to hold a Princess Party but many of our Hostesses have been part of the Miss American Rose Family. It is our sincere belief that a crown is just a keepsake until a titleholder brings it to life by her service to others. With a Princess Party, you can spread the attitudes, as well as the magic, of a fairy-tale Princess to girls who have serious challenges to face every day of their lives. Storybook Princesses too, show courage and a strong belief in themselves when faced with obstacles. It is our FIRMLY ENTRENCHED belief that each person, especially a child, who goes to the work of preparing for a pageant is deserving of many chances for a usable title. The Princess Project gives girls facing challenges a little of the magic, the sparkle, the hope and self-confidence we feel when we put on a tiara. The greatest value comes from giving back to others. We hope you will choose a Princess Party as a way to give to others and we also hope you will participate in one of our fundraising Pageants.

Purse Pals: Purse Pals was founded by Kendra Strickland in April of 2004. This projectís goal is to take under privileged girls shopping to help them buy extra things they could otherwise not get. Anyone can contribute to this great project by starting a chapter in your community or simply donating items. We would like each girl we take on a shopping trip to have a special purse full of treasures that they will always remember. Everyone who donates to this project receives a personalized certificate. This project provides girls with a role model and friend. These girls need someone to have fun with and get away from the stress of their daily lives.

Visit Nursing Home Patients: We will make and deliver cards to patients at a nursing home. The cards need to be happy. Do not say get well soon or anything about their sickness!! These cards need to be very positive like... "Have a great day!" or "Smile and Be Happy!"

What to Bring:
*Your tiara and sash, Please wear these to all events this weekend!
*Your business cards and Pageant info to pass out through out the weekend
(always take some with you just in case someone asks you about your title)
*Items you are donating to Purse Pals and The Princess Project
*Your camera, there will be lots of photo ops so this is an important thing to have!
*Enough clothes for two days (nice casual clothes)
*One Hawaiian outfit for our Hawaiian themed Princess Party
*Two photos of yourself for the Queens Weekend In Texas Photo Contest (no glitz)
*Spending money for shopping and some meals

To cut down on the cost of this Queens Weekend In we will be staying with host families. Their will be two or three queens with each host family. This also helps you meet people in this area and helps you become close friends with your queen roommate. The host families will provide some of your meals. Please be courteous towards them, because they are doing this out of kindness.
